What Do You See?
I managed to finish my first round of edits for book two in my new Music For the Heart Series, Promise to Fulfill. I figured I'd scan through it before sending it off for second round edits. I quickly discovered a good portion of my revisions were gone, had disappeared, vanished! What the hell happened to my hours of work? I save my work nonstop.
Needless to say, I was speechless and full of tears. I would have to go back and do the revisions all over again!
I chose to read and go to sleep.
The following morning, feeling lethargic and in an awful mood, I dropped my youngest off at school, did a few errands, then went food shopping. When I got to the produce section, I noticed this fruit parfait. It stood out amongst the rest. The frickin' thing had a smiley face.
As I've said, I don't believe in coincidences. I took this as a sign. I purchased the parfait.
When I got home, I got busy re-editing. My mood had shifted to a better place. I would just proceed and move forward. Shit happens. It is what it is.
Today, I got busy, plugging along with my re-edits when all of a sudden, I kid you not, like 70 pages later, my revisions appeared again in the manuscript, right in front of me.
What?
Couldn't be.
I searched through the rest of the script to in fact find my revisions in place. I had only lost about 70-80 pages, not 200 as I'd previously thought.
I said many prayers of gratitude to the higher power I believe watches over me.
So what is it you see? It's all in how we choose to look at things, as I've also said in my blogs - perception is key.
This fruit parfait, with two blueberry eyes and a strawberry smile, had compeltely changed my outlook about the revisions. Was I jumping up and down with glee? No. But I moved forward. And look at the outcome, I hadn't lost as much as I thought I had. Again, a prayer of thanks is in order.
Some might call this experience freaky. I see it as a message sent to me to take a deep breath and slow down.
Keep an eye out for these messages. They're everywhere. It's all in our perception!
